There is nothing more inviting than a good wreath adorned on the front door of a home. Maybe it came from my mother; I have always loved wreaths. It is an easy way to fill in a boring space or get festive for a holiday. I make it a point to always have a wreath on my front door (for the most part). As I got older and braver, I began creating my own wreaths. I would go to the store and say to myself, "I can do this!" What's great about the DIY wreath is that you can add or subtract a flower, bow or anything else to make it perfect for YOU! Here is a little tutorial on how I recently made a spring wreath just in time for my upcoming Easter brunch.
STEP 1: PINTEREST
I begin every new project by hopping on Pinterest to see if I can find any inspiration that strikes my fancy. This particular visit, I didn't find anything that spoke to me.
STEP 2: BUY SUPPLIES
Then, I took a trip to Michaels to walk around the floral section and just started picking. I made the prettiest spring bouquet I could within the sale section and ended up with what you see below. Not too shabby!
STEP 3: LET THE CREATIVE JUICES FLOW!
I stripped an old wreath that I no longer used to save some money, got out my glue gun and wire cutter and simply cut off pieces of foliage and stuck them in the vines of the wreath. I began with a green base, added larger white flowers and then smaller lavender flowers. I didn't even glue anything until I fastened the ribbon at the end! See below to view the transformation:

STEP 4: THE FINISHING TOUCHES
After all of my flowers were in place, I felt that the wreath needed something else to add some extra interest. My mom had brought over some old burlap she no longer needed a while back and being the hoarder I am, I gladly took it off of her and stowed it in my cluttered basement with the rest of my treasures. I found that old burlap the other day and decided to cut off a thick band to wrap around the wreath.
STEP 5: PLAY!
Once I was satisfied with the finished product it was time to play! It did eventually make it outside where I intended it to go, but not without first staring at it in my dining room for a couple of hours.

Happy Spring Friends!
